Vietravel has been established for many years offering tourist activities and tours throughout Vietnam. Last year they announced plans to begin offering internal travel through their own airline.
On 5th December they received their first plane, an Airbus A321CEO. They have not confirmed the number of seats on the plane but did mention that the maximum number was 220 which suggests that they might be cramming as many seats as possible onto the plane.
The airline are however promoting the level of comfort and amenities on board suggesting that it will be anything but a budget airline. Comfortable seats and wireless entertainment systems and satellite internet will both be available.
The domestic market in Vietnam is already a hotly contested market with Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet Air, Bamboo Airways, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, and Hai Au Aviation all flying.
“We will fly domestically first, targeting the 100 million population market. In fact, it is not a small market. Our July domestic travel revenue is already much higher than before the pandemic.”Nguyen Quoc Ky, CEO, Vietravel Airlines
The Airbus A321CEO is the longest fuselage member of the A320 fleet at 44.51 metres and is wider than its competitors at 3.95 metres. It typically seats 170 to 200 passengers in a two-class cabin.
Vietravel Airlines have orders for 2 more planes to be delivered shortly that will help them to serve 1 million passengers in their first year and operate more than 80 flights per week. They will serve Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Hanoi and tourist destinations including Da Nang , Nha Trang and Phu Quoc. They are based at Hue Phu Bai International Airport.
