Phuket has welcomed the first 59 tourists under the Thai villa quarantine scheme.

The scheme sees tourists completing immigration and customs checks before Covid-19 testing. Once cleared they are then transported to the hotel, the Sri Panwa Hotel, where they must spend the first 5 days within their room. They will then be able to complete the remainder of their 14-day quarantine within the grounds of the hotel.

Fifty-nine tourists from the UK, US, France and Finland have arrived in Phuket, becoming the first participants of Thailand’s villa quarantine scheme.

The tourists, from the UK USA, France and Finland arrived on two chartered flights from Indonesia.

Meanwhile last week saw the first 41 tourists from South Korea enter the country under golf quarantine, staying at Artitaya Golf Resort in Nakhon Nayok. Golf quarantine requires them to stay at an approved golf resorts for the first 14 days but are allowed to play golf and take part in other outdoor activities.
