The Thailand Public Health Ministry is hoping that vaccine passport deals with other countries will be agreed within the next month.

The vaccine passport arrangements would be agreed with bilateral agreements with countries with low-levels of ongoing Covid-19 cases and who had implemented a vaccination programme.

“The vaccine passport scheme will take shape within three months.”

Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General Thailand Department of Disease Control

Thailand has so far delivered the first dose of a Covid vaccine to just over 44,000 people and the programme is due to increase pace over the coming weeks. By June the target is for 5 million doses to be delivered, doubling to 10 million from July. The country aims for 60 million doses by the end of the year.

There is no confirmation at the moment what conditions would be imposed on tourists entering Thailand under the proposed scheme. It is thought that plans will be put into place to reduce mandatory quarantine to 7 days for vaccinated tourists.
