Bamboo Airways were last week allocated six weekly slots from Heathrow Airport (London) as the continue to plan for their expansion once the epidemic is over.
Direct flights between the UK and Vietnam have so far been limited to daily flights with Vietnam Airlines which has charged a premium. Most people from the UK have travelled via hubs including Singapore, Bangkok, Thailand and the Middle East.
Bamboo have secured the slots which will allow them to fly to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) on Tuesday, Thursday and Sundays and Hanoi on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
Flights, on Boeing 787’s, could, in theory, start as soon as July but will need to wait until Vietnam allows international flights and foreign tourists.
Other European Routes
Bamboo Airways had planned to start direct flights to Prague and Munich but plans have been put on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They are also planning on flights to Frankfurt later this year.
