Best Value Destinations In Southeast Asia

The UK based Post Office Travel Money report on best value tourist hotspots has been released and Bali has come top of the list in Southeast Asia.

The Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer has been running for 15 years and looks at the price of eight tourist items – comprising dinner for two with a bottle of wine, a range of soft and alcoholic drinks, suncream and insect repellent – in 46 global destinations.

The overall winner was Sunny Beach in Bulgaria where the eight items cost just £27.71 (US$38.42). The most expensive was Abu Dhabi where the same basket cost £159.01 (US$220.45)!

The best value long-haul destination, cheapest destination in Southeast Asia, and fourth cheapest overall, was Bali, Indonesia where the 8 items cost £55.01 (US$76.26). In second place, and eighth overall, was Hoi An in Vietnam at £58.39 (US$80.95).

Other Southeast Asia destinations listed were Penang in Malaysia at £71.71 (US$99.42), Phuket, Thailand at £81.13 (US$112.48 ) and China Town in Singapore at £94.96 (US$131.65).
