The first travellers under the new Vaccinated Travel Lanes (VTL) have arrived in Singapore after their flight from Germany touched down earlier today.

The flight landed just over an hour late after it was rerouted to avoid Afghan airspace.

The VYL scheme was announced last month initially for fully vaccinated visitors from Germany and Brunei. The VTL cost includes pre-booked Covid-19 tests on arrival and during their time in Singapore.

Currently there are 7 flights a week planned between Germany and Singapore operated by Singapore Airlines or Lufthansa.

There are three flights a week planned between Singapore and Brunei to Singapore each week, two from Royal Brunei Airlines and one from Singapore Airlines.

Germany and Brunei have been selected as pilot countries to trial the arrangements and there are hopes to expand the scheme to further countries in as soon as possible.

Previous attempts by Singapore to introduce travel bubbles and corridors have been hit by outbreaks of Covid-19 leading to delays and cancellation of the arrangements.
