Singapore In World’s Best Countries List

This 2021 Best Countries List sees Singapore in 4th place worldwide in “Best Countries Movers” list, 5th worldwide in the “Best Countries Agility” and 8th in the “Best Countries Entrepreneurs” list.

Thailand is the only other Southeast Asian country to feature in the top 10 of any category.

The Best Countries rankings are compiled by the BAV Group (a unit of global marketing communications company, VMLY&R) and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania based on the perceptions of 78 countries in various metrics assessed from a study of over 17,000 people.

Thailand ranked at number 14 in the overall Best Countries list.

For a country to be agile, it must adapt and respond to whatever obstacles it faces. To do this, a country needs to be efficient in its actions, adopt and accept modern solutions, and progress to meet changing circumstances.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia the , Malaysia in 31st, Thailand in 36th, Indonesia in 41st, Philippines were in 45th place, Vietnam in 50th, Myanmar in 75th and Cambodia in 77th.

Best Countries Entrepreneurship – #8

The Entrepreneurship subranking is based on an equally weighted average of scores from 10 country attributes that related to how entrepreneurial a country is: connected to the rest of the world, educated population, entrepreneurial, innovative, provides easy access to capital, skilled labor force, technological expertise, transparent business practices, well-developed infrastructure and well-developed legal framework.

One of Asia’s four economic tigers, Singapore has seen impressive growth in recent years as efficient manufacturing and production practices have made way for free-market innovation in the booming electronics and pharmaceutical industries. Gross domestic product per capita is high and unemployment is low, making Singapore one of the wealthiest nations in the world.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia Malaysia in 33rd, Thailand in 36th, the Philippines in 42nd place, Indonesia in 43rd, Vietnam were in 44th, Cambodia in 69th and Myanmar in 74th.

Best Countries Movers – #7

The Best Countries Movers subranking, is predictive of a country’s future growth in terms of per capita purchasing power and parity gross domestic product.

Space constraints coupled with rapid population growth contribute to concerns about the rising cost of living and income inequality. Conservation, land reclamation efforts and improved environment-friendly practices amid the urbanization and industrial pollution are also a focus.

Elsewhere in Southeast Asia Thailand was in 7th, Vietnam in 23rd, Malaysia in 26th, Indonesia in 27th, Myanmar in 30th, Cambodia in 35th and the Philippines in 37th.
