The United States, one of the biggest potential markets, has announced that Singapore will move to the highest “Very High Level” warning which recommends that people avoid travel to that destination.

“Because of the current situation in Singapore, even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants.”

US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

The news will come as a blow as the first flights under the VTL start to arrive tomorrow, with the first scheduled to land following a flight from Amsterdam.

The first flight from the United States is due to leave late today and arrive in Singapore in the early hours of Thursday morning, local time.

The other countries recently added to the VTL list were Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.

Singapores Vaccine Travel Lanes Explained

Travellers arriving under the scheme will be required to a pre-departure PCR test (within 48 hours) and additional tests on arrival and on days 3 and 7, at a designated Singapore clinic.

All visitors must have received their final dose of an approved Covid-19 vaccine at least 14 days prior to arrival. Anyone who is not vaccinated, including children, will not be allowed to travel under the scheme.

Travellers must have been in their country of departure for at least the previous 21 days and will only be allowed to travel on specific, non-stop, designated flights.

Visitors must have a valid visa (if required) and a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) prior to travel. Applications for the VTP include pre-paid PCR tests for their time in Singapore.
