The winners of the highly prestigious World Travel Awards 2021 – Asia, have been announced and Vietnam has taken the top award, Asia’s Leading Destination.

The award means that the country is in line to win the overall World Award which will be announced later in the year.
The winners were voted for by travel industry professionals and members of the public.
The country is no stranger to winning the award as it had previously taken the honours in 2018 and 2019.
The country has been closed to foreign tourists since March last year as the seriousness of the pandemic became apparant. There are hopes that Phu Quoc and Da Nang will be welcoming foreign visitors back in the not too distant future.
A number of other awards are also heading to Vietnam this year.
The country won Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination 2021 beating off other nominees from Indonesia, Laos, Thailand and Nepal.
Hoi An beat Hue City as well as Beijing in China, Delhi in India, Kyoto in Japan and Seoul in South Korea to win Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination 2021.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism were the winners of Asia’s Leading Tourist Board 2021.
