The first phase will allow tourists to travel to the country from its regional neighbours, but will require individual arrangements for travel bubbles or corridors to enable this to happen.
“We are making necessary consultation with government agencies and privates associations to systematically receive international visitors when airports and borders reopen.”Myanmar Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, Public Relations and Information department
It is hoped that international air travel will restart in the country by the end of the first quarter in 2022 as long as vaccination rates in the country meet their targets and global infection levels reduce.
The country effecftively closed its borders to foreign tourists on 23rd March 2020 as the pandemic took hold worldwide.
