Hue In Vietnam To Open To Foreign Tourists

Thua Thien-Hue Province in Vietnam, home to popular tourist destination Hue, has announced plans to welcome back fully vaccinated foreign travellers from later this month.

The reopening will be the first of a three-phase plan for fully vaccinated tourists. from areas of Europe, the U.S., Northeast and Southeast Asia, and Australia, which have high vaccination rates and have controlled Covid-19.

Phase 1 will see visitors arriving on chartered flights and be required to stay in sequestered resorts. all bookings must be made through approved tour operators.

Phase 2, from February, will allow visitors on cruise ships and additional destinations, including Bach Ma National Park, will reopen.

Phase 3 will see the removal of all restrictions from an as yet unspecified date.

All travellers will need to have proof of being fully vaccinated, or have recovered from Covid-19, and have tested negative with 72 hours of arrival.

They will also need to have medical or travel insurance which includes coverage for Covid-19 treatment of at least US$50,000. They will be required to install and use the IGOVN and PC-Covid apps on their phones while in Vietnam.

Hue was the seat of Nguyen Dynasty emperors and the national capital from 1802 to 1945. The 19th-century Dai Noi Citadel is a highlight of many travelers trips to the area, the citadel includes the Imperial City, the Forbidden Purple City and a replica of the Royal Theatre.
