The largest city on Lombok is suitable for a day trip, a short stay or as a base for exploring the rest of the island.
The area has some excellent temples, museum and the water palace.
Accommodation – The hotels are generally located in the centre of the city and are primarily aimed at the business crowd so do not expect tourist focused hotels.
Nightlife – No really a place to visit if you are looking for a lively evening, there are a number of bars and restaurants generally catering for locals or a mixed clientele rather than the tourist crowd
Food – Some excellent local dishes and wider Indonesian cuisine with some international options available.
Things To Do
The museum of West Nusa Tenggara Barat has some interesting exhibits on the geology, history and culture of the area.
Mayura Garden is a water palace built in 1744 and was the location for a number of battles between Balinese and Dutch armies in 1894.
Narmada Park was originally a place of relaxation for the king and includes the “Youth Fountain”, pool and remple.
