Within the moat walls the Old City has endless temples, cafes, restaurants and a good range of hotels.

Look on a map of Chiang Mai and you can easily identify the Old City which is an almost perfect square with old moat wall forming the boundary. The area includes landmarks including Wat Phra, Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Chiang and many more unmissable sights.

Night Bazaar

I love it around here, a short walk from Old City and Riverside it’s an excellent area to explore from. The area itself has excellent shopping, not just in the main night bazaar itself but in a number of outdoor markets. The night-life is excellent but not in your face and the area offers everything from budget to top price hotels.

Quieter but right on the doorstep of the busier areas of Chiang Mai and offers a great choice for families and those wanting a more relaxed stay.

The area has more of a local feel in places especially as you explore the back streets as well as along the river banks.
